Today marks the feast day of St Julian of Norwich Today marks the feast day of St Julian of Norwich in the Roman Catholic Church. I first came across medieval women’s writing at university and was fascinated to discover that Julian was the first known woman to write a book in English.

For around 20 years, she lived as an anchoress in a single room in St Julian’s Church in Norwich (you can see the window of the room to the right of the book). Here, she wrote “Revelations of Divine Love”, a text that transformed Christian thought.

I also realise it’s been over a year since I last posted - hope you’re keeping safe and well. Would love to know what you’re reading! 📚
